IFEES
The International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES) has become reality.
On October 9, during the 5th Annual ASEE Colloquium on
Engineering Education in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the inaugural and founding
meeting of IFEES took place. About 35 representatives from worldwide
engineering education societies were represented at the meeting where the
President and the executive Committee for the first term (2-years mandate)
were elected.
SEFI President, Prof. Claudio Borri, was elected President of
IFEES for the period 2007/2009.
This recognition is received with great
pride and value to SEFI now being in head of this global organization, which
will no doubt be of significant importance to the development of engineering
education worldwide.
The aim of IFEES is to promote engineering education
globally and to enhance its quality by bringing together members from
engineering education societies around the world to share teaching methods,
curriculum plans, and every other aspect of educating engineers, to include
those organizations from developing countries.
Information technology and
global communications have drastically altered the engineering field, making
such collaborations, cultural understanding and mutual learning a real value
to the engineering education community.
